Behind The Ear (BTE) hearing aid:

The RIC style is popular with first time wearers with mild to severe sloping hearing loss.
In-the-ear hearing aids:
All the components are housed within the ear fitting itself,most commonly provided with an individual shell made from an ear impression. ITEs can be standard or individual prescription hearing aids.It is helpful for people with mild to severe hearing loss.

The only thing visible to the eye is normally the small handle, similar to a nylon fishing line with a small knob on the end,battery drawer and face plate.
